Here Comes Hector Noesi - Game Preview & Lineups 4/30

It’s Hector Noesi Day. It’s no surprise that the sun is not shining, and on Weather Day at The Cell, whoever it is that controls these things is not kind enough to bring enough rain from the clouds to halt this potential downpour of runs. So be it. We don’t know how the chips will fall. If we knew the outcome, they wouldn’t play the games. For this reason, we’ll move forward with the observation of…Hector…Noesi Day.

This will be Noesi’s first start of the year, despite having made appearances for 3 MLB teams already. The fact that such a statement can be made about a player in April openly declares how awful those appearances have gone. 10 runs allowed in 6.1 innings before he reached the White Sox. However in his lone relief appearance on the South Side, an inning and a third’s worth, he didn’t allow any runs and only a single hit. Sample size doesn’t get much smaller than that, but it’s what we’ve got.

On the other end is Max Scherzer. You know, the Cy Young guy. You may say he’s better than Noesi, you may say the White Sox have no chance in such a matchup. You could place a bet on it, and you’d probably win, but I’m not here to advise you on your gambling addiction.

As much as we’d like to blame last night’s loss on Dayan Viciedo and ill-prepared infield defensive structure, the offense fell short and missed prime opportunities to score runs. Against Scherzer, who struck out 10 White Sox his last time out, squandered opportunities will cost the team their slim chance to steal one back from the Tigers.
